SMPA Play
For 2023, expect the following:
- Our Fourth of July Round Robin Shoot Out: A round robin tournament
- Clinics to introduce you to pickleball throughout the summer
- Seattle Metro Pickleball Classic: A regional tournament
- Our annual membership meeting (and play) for SMPA members only, on May 13th. If you are a member, you should have received an email announcing it, unless you unsubscribed from all email communications. If you are not a member yet, it’s easy to join.
- Beginner and novice play dates for youth, adults and families hosted by the Diversity and Inclusion In Pickleball group.
- Maybe more…
Where can I find pickleball courts?
TimeForPickleball maintains a comprehensive list of pickleball courts in the greater Seattle area.
Where can I find drop-in play?
During “open” or “drop-in” play, players simply show up at a venue, without advance notification, to play with other players who also drop-in. Players are free to arrive and leave at any time. If there are too many players for the number of available courts, players rotate in and out of the courts after each match.
Always respect the court rules set by the local authorities. If the courts are not reserved exclusively for drop-in play, you might need to share them with people who want private play.

Where can I organize private play?
Do you want to organize play that is limited to a specific group of players? For instance:
- Your Household
- You and your drilling partner
- Your foursome practicing for an upcoming tournament
Public courts
You can organize play on any of the outdoor public courts. If you play on courts that are often used for drop-in play, please be considered and try to schedule your private play outside of regular drop-in times.
Depending on where you want to play, you might be able to reserve a public court. Both Seattle and Shoreline allow you to reserve courts online.
Private Courts
Many local private tennis and fitness clubs will also allow you to reserve pickleball courts. You do not always need to be a member to make a reservation.
Where can I find leagues?
During the summer, there is an informal outdoor 4.0 round robin league happening at Bitter Lake on most Saturday mornings. Registration happens through PlayTimeScheduler.
Several organizations host pickleball leagues, such as:
- Westside Pickleball League in West Seattle and SEATAC
- Gorin Redmond Pickleball
- City of Edmonds pickleball leagues at the Frances Anderson Center
- Auburn Parks and Recreation Department
- Pride Sports USA
