2021 Tournament Overview

All matches – July 23, 24, and 25, 2021

Shoreview Park, 700 NW Innis Arden Way, Shoreline, WA 98177

Seattle Metro Pickleball Association (SMPA) in 2019 hosted the largest outdoor pickleball tournament in the greater Seattle area, the Seattle Metro Pickleball Classic. Although the pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 event, the Tournament Planning Committee, with the support of SMPA, expects to deliver for 2021 a well-managed, exciting pickleball tournament.

Set in a beautiful city park along the shores of the Puget Sound in Shoreline, Washington, this tournament draws both professional and regional recreational pickleball players, features 18 courts, food, skill and play divisions that include players 12 year and older, and Open play for professionals competing for a cash purse. The tournament registration numbers determine the final prize pool.

Unique for this region, this tournament showcases local and national pickleball players in a beautiful setting during the typically mild Pacific Northwest summer weather, and the success of 2019 immediately established the tournament as a must-do event for pickleball players, vendors, and sponsor of this fun sport.

Registration Opens April 3, 2021

Stay on top of changes and check for registration information at the Seattle Metro Pickleball Classic Pickleball Tournaments site to register.

Once registration for this event opens on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 12 noon, you can start checking for players looking for partners. The page includes loads of other information, including ball type, location, lodging, Event Brackets, a Player List, and Find Players.

If you aren’t a member of SMPA, click to join us. Pickleball in the Pacific Northwest won’t grow without you.

Referees

The tournament is a sanctioned USA Pickleball event, which means we’ll need referees. A Head Referee will be onsite for the tournament itself. Until then, SMPA offers referee training sessions beginning late spring and early summer of 2021 to help build out the local pool of trained refs.

You can add your name starting today on SignUpGenius and join the ranks of the SMPC referees. Don’t be shy! You’ll learn a lot and help other players, too.

Volunteers

This tournament happens only with the help of volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to plan a great tournament experience for everyone involved. Team captains are actively looking to fill out their work teams. Help grow this unique Pacific Northwest pickleball tournament.

You can look to SignUpGenius to add your name to volunteer for any of the several work groups that we need to successfully support this tournament. Want to be a Team Captain? There are several roles not yet filled, and you could add your leadership and skills where you best fit.

SMPA encourages all association members and local players to take on a role in putting on the tournament.

Vendor Information

As the Seattle metropolitan area’s largest outdoor pickleball tournament, the SMPC is expected to attract over 400 participants, plus their friends, family members, the public, and local media.

The players and spectators at a pickleball tournament represent economic clout and with a high level of discretionary spending, typically outspending the average consumer in every category. Attendees represent healthy, socially active, engaged community members and their families, many of whom travel, eat out, stay in local hotels, and shop in local stores.

The tournament is produced by and supports SMPA, a 501c3 non-profit organization with a mission of growing and improving pickleball facilities and opportunities to play in the greater Seattle area.

Along with promoting your brand, your vendor booth at the 2021 Pickleball Classic will help fund tournament operations, prizes for our Open divisions, and the future growth of pickleball in the Pacific Northwest.

Vendors in the pickleball or health, sport, fitness, and wellness (including food) industries welcome to apply. Vendors receive a 10’x10’ space on grass located in close proximity to courts (tent not included).

To secure your spot, contact the Vendor Coordinator early in 2021 to discuss becoming a vendor for this highly anticipated, certain-to-be well attended, post-COVID event.
